Using the CallUp e-Mobile Phone application, mobile subscribers can receive and make calls from their PC or from a PDA - from anywhere in the world - using the same mobile number. The CallUp e-Mobile Phone is particularly attractive to travelers as rates for calls are no more than a local call.
Calls to mobile subscribers are transparently diverted to the e-Mobile Phone application running on the subscriber's PC or PDA. When receiving a call via CallUp e-Mobile Phone, the subscriber’s mobile phone rings simultaneously and he/she can decide whether to answer on his/her PC/PDA or mobile handset.
When a user wishes to place a call, he/she simply enters the number in the dialing window of the e-Mobile Phone and establishes a call as if it had been made from a mobile phone.
The subscriber can conduct a full voice and video calls with the calling party, using any PC, audio or video device, such as the built-in microphone and speaker, a headset or Bluetooth device and Web Cam.
The service is activated through a Web client. The user accesses a mobile carrier portal and enters a username and password, just like a Web Mail account. Alternatively, a PC client with enhanced features may be used. The PC e-Mobile Phone has many of the characteristics associated with IP phones.
